Dear Spiro Athanas,

Hello, my name is Asia. I enjoyed reading your coming of age story. I found it to be interesting, entertaining, and a really good example of a coming of age situation. The most compelling parts of the story to me is when your father grabbed a young mans wrist for a orange because your father thought he he was going to steal. To me, that was not caused for. It was very obvious that the young man was only picking it up to give it to your father. That could have been handled differently.

I can relate to your coming of age experience. Like you, I also had a family member who did something embarrassing that I thought was childish. But then, I ended up doing the same thing. To make a long story short a guy in the throat for talking dirty while I was around. I Thought it was childish because I was smart enough not to repeat that garbage. Then the day came when I was at the park with my niece and a kid was being really immature, I ended up punching him in the throat just like my dad did that guy. Like father, like daughter I guess. Again, like you, I also repeated the actions of the man I called daddy.

The themes in this story are that parents can be embarrassing. But, no matter how embarrassing they are you have to learn they care about you enough to do crazy things. Also be happy that your father had a life to live because "everybody dies but not everybody lives." Your always going to lose someone that you love that's just life. Just don't repeat the bad things they did because you think repeating that persons actions will make you more like them. NO! Be your own person and don't make the same mistakes others made.

                                                                                                            Sincerely,
                                                                                                                           Asia Anderson
